Sacred Heart Youth Ministry Program

Goals for Ministry with Adolescents
Goal 1: To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
Goal 2: To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
Goal 3: To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

Components of Comprehesive Youth Ministry
Comprehensive ministry empowers the whole church to ministry to the youth through the following components: The Ministry of Advocacy, Catechesis, Community Life, Evangelization, Justice and Service, Leadership Development, Pastoral Care, and Prayer and Worship.

As we strive to meet the goals above the following events/activities are provided for youth from 5-12 grade:

Youth Group Meetings & Youth Bible Study: Regular meetings for Middle School (includes 5th grade) and High School Youth.
Youth and Adult Leadership Teams: Monthly meetings to evaluate, organize and plain events.
Service Learning & Missions Events: Service at Good Shepard, Halloween Food Drive, Lenten Fast & Service, Parish Garden Project, Call To Service, Mission Trips and collaboration with Faith in Action program.
Retreats: Parish Middle & High School Retreat, Castaway, TEC, Boundary Waters Wilderness Retreat, Camping Retreats,
Conferences & Rallies: World Youth Day, National Catholic Youth Conference, Senior & Junior High Youth Rallies,
Liturgical Opportunities: Drama Team, Choir/Music, Eucharistic Ministry, Reader, Greeter and Usher.
Community & Faith Building Events: Metro Lock-in, Metro Spirit Mountain Skit Trip, Valleyfair and Ice Fishing.

Youth Ministry Adult Committee Minutes

Congratulations to Thomas Janson a senior from Sacred Heart Parish who received the St. Timothy award at the Senior High Youth Rally.The St. Timothy award is the highest award offered by the National Federation For Catholic Youth Ministry for a junior or senior who exemplify Christian service, Catholic leadership, good moral standards and lives as a disciple of Christ, setting a positive example for other youth.
