The spring time of Lent is once again upon us. Lent gives us an opportunity to look beyond ourselves as we enter into the ancient practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Through these ancient practices may we discover our giftedness, take time to listen to God speak in our hearts, to be more attentive to the wonders around us, and praise God with all our being.

Pay It Forward

Accepting a $100 "Pay It Forward" challenge grant from the Visitor our soup supper on March 19 will be an opportunity to learn more about our Moslem brothers and sisters and through the free will offerings grow our $100 grant to assist the St. Cloud Area Somali Salvation Organization (SASSO). The meal begins, 6:00pm, March 19. Read more:

You are invited to explore the depths of the Triduum --- the three most holy days of the church year --- with Fr. Bill Vos, Sunday March 7, Wednesday March 10, or Thursday March 11. Reflecting on his years of ministry in Tanzania, Fr. Bill will bring new insights to our Triduum celebrations.

Catholic Schools Week, January 31 - February 6. Come and explore the activities at our schools --- Sacred Heart Elementary, John XXIII Middle School, and Cathedral High School. Special happenings at all weekend liturgies January 30/31.

David Abraham

Please remember in your prayer David Abraham who died Friday, January 22, 2010. Visitation for David will be Monday, January 25, 2010, 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids, with parish prayers at 6:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 10:00am, at Sacred Heart Church with visitation one hour prior to mass. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. A three evening seminar --- Sunday, January 24, Monday January 25, and Thursday January 28--- which will explore the positive and negative uses of technology, especially online tools. (Facebook, texting, twitter….) All sessions are in our church, 7:00pm to 8:30pm. See the flyer for more information. The seminar is sponsored by ChristSeed.
