The Holy Eucharist refers to Christ’s body and blood present in the consecrated host on the altar, and Catholics believe that the consecrated bread and wine are actually the body and blood, soul and divinity of Christ. For Catholics, the presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist isn’t just symbolic, it’s real.
What are my next steps?
First Eucharist is usually celebrated by children in grade 2 (or older!).
Immediate preparation begins with participation in Sacred Heart's faith formation program.
Registration typically opens in late August/early September.
Once registered, information regarding an orientation meeting will be sent out.
A parent or guardian is asked to attend the meeting to receive all the information necessary for the year.
In addition to attending faith formation programming, complete the take-home study materials provided throughout the year.
Toward the end of the year, attend one interactive learning center.
Prior to receiving the Sacrament, each child and adult is asked to attend a retreat together.
The retreats are scheduled either for a morning or afternoon.
We look forward to journeying with you and your child!
